The Marriage Feast
- THE NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS
Translated by Manana Mikeladze
The collection of stories present a wide range of human emotions, impressions and experiences that people encounter in their lives: joy and suffering, wedding and mourning, struggle for inner freedom, the eternal conflict of good and evil.
Lagerkvist, who wrote poems, plays, novels, stories and essays, received the 1951 Nobel Prize in Literature "for the artistic vigour and true independence of mind with which he endeavours in his poetry to find answers to the eternal questions confronting mankind".
