- THE NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS
Translated by Mariam Tsiklauri
Word to word translation from Modern Greek, prologue and comments by Maia Kakashvili
Giorgos Sepheris (1900-1971) is the first Greek recipient of the Nobel Prize in literature. His first book was published in 150 copies. In 1922 the Greek people experienced massive deportation from Turkey. The feeling of being a refugee accompanied the poet until the end of his life.
Although the academic edition of Sepheris’s poems was published in one small volume, it did not prevent him from getting the Nobel Prize. The present book together with the biography and interesting comments is a kind of a retrospective edition of the author’s complete works.
