Translated from Hebrew by Mamuka Butskhrikidze
His first story was signed Agunot (‘forsaken wives’), but later he adopted S.Y. Agnon which is a literary pseudonym of Shmuel Yosef Halevi Czaczkes – the central figure of modern Hebrew literature. In 1966 Agnon received the Nobel Prize in Literature "for his profound characteristic narrative art with motifs from the life of the Jewish people".
The present publication includes: The Simple Story, Edo and Enam and Oath of Allegiance.
