Born in 1942, he graduated from Tbilisi State University (Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics) in 1964 and later, in 1978, from Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University (Film and Television Production Faculty).

He is the author and producer of a number of film scripts and screenplays. He has also had a distinguished acting career. He is acclaimed for his extremely interesting featured roles in more than twenty films.

Guram Petriashvili is a writer, and, above all he writes for children. No one can read his stories without being moved, which is the highest criteria one can set for a writer.
