The Off Screen Speeches present a fragment of Rostom Cheidze’s richly diverse contribution to the Georgian literature and criticism. The present collection became an excellent pretext to talk about the national problems, which the author believes to be the primary duty of a man of letters as well as of academics. There are no "abstract themes" because the analysis and discussion of the positive and negative trends in modern literature serve the sole aim: to depict a full, unbiased picture of the cultural environment where everything and everyone merit what they deserve.
