Guram Megrelishvili’s ethics completely negates sham patriotism and a moralist’s position. He chooses his "human" discourse based on personal experience: "The other day I was drinking beer with friends when unexpectedly the problem of not having a civic position or opinion cropped up in our conversation". Most of his serious discussions begin in a similar, seemingly off-hand manner.
Considering the ever merging literary genres, it is hard to define Guram Megrelishvili’s style. The closest description would be saying it lies between an essay and a publicistic article. However, being deeply involved in making unfavorable discoveries about oneself, the reader cannot be bothered with such technicalities.
Those impressed with statistics will be interested in the fact that the most frequently used word in his book is "citizen" and its derivatives. This clearly shows Guram Megrelishvili’s priorities: he writes because he cannot and would not be silent.
