"Today it seems strange that a poet like Givi Gegechkori died without being properly acknowledged. Indeed, the great writers of the past complained we were reluctant to admit each other’s talents and achievements during lifetime. However, in truth, it was Givi Gegechkori’s choice to remain in shadow – having found refuge in solitude, he created in pain and hope.
"He never was after popularity, shunning large audiences. It was only a relatively small circle of poetry lovers who actually knew he was minting his own gold. Somehow it seems he never lived except in his poetry", Teimuraz Doiashvili says in his introduction.
