The Lilac Season
- Modern Georgian Prose
The author’s thoughts, words and emotions have certain depths, that’s why her characters are neither "here" nor "there". They seem to exist in not so unreal space, neither are they in any specific reality. They are not forgotten, just rotate in the cozy, bitter-sweet space with its vice and virtue.
Nino Sadghobelashvili’s novellas inspire us to think, look into our depths, even urge us to confess we harbor these feelings. There is truth in them, the kind that we might not have the courage to admit, or are sorry to part with.
