"What made me decide to write this book? When reading the books about the history of Tbilisi one thing we can point out is that they tell us the political story of the city. Since most of these books had been published during the times of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, the history is twisted according to the political and ideological outlook of those systems.
It is not only sincerity that these books lack but also the stories about infrastructure, bridges, transportation, districts, and landscaping of the city. You would probably agree if I said that creating such a text should be far simpler nowadays, in the time free of ideological pressure.
I waited a long time for such book and finally decided to write it myself. In short, I wanted to tell the story of Tbilisi in a simple manner that everyone would comprehend..." (extract from the foreword by the author)
