The roots of the contemporary Laz poetry can be traced back to the Laz oral folklore. For this very reason, along with the modern poems, the collection includes samples of the old folk poetry, which contain archaic forms and vocabulary.
The present collection will once again show how close the Laz culture is to Georgian especially that these two share the common ancestral past. The selected poems will certainly give an excellent impression of the diversity and originality of the 20th and 21st century poets.
Instead of an introduction, the book opens with an extract from The Laz Folklore by Zurab Tandilava.
