"Winter Sea" is Gaga Nakhutsrishvili's first novel.

 

There are three characters in the novel – one is a victim of Soviet repressions, another one has gone through the dissolution of the totalitarian regime and the third one is born in independent Georgia. Their life is just like the times they live in.

 

The main character Andro belongs to the "gone through mincing-machine" generation. He follows his grandmother's will and writes the tragic story of his family that was a victim of repressions. He tells about himself as well – first there was a war which felt as if it had no beginning and no end, then there was emigration as an attempt for survival, friendship as one of the ways of going on with life and, finally love that helps him forget the past and come back to reality.
