- Modern Georgian Poetry
It is surprising that considering the diversification of contemporary verse the interest towards tanka and haiku, the ancient Japanese poetic forms, doesn’t recede. The Georgian author of tankas Irakli Kakabadze assumes a new name, Iaki Kabe, in order to achieve the magic of making the century-old verse as familiar to Georgian readers as it is to the Japanese.
Iaki Kabe’s 100 tankas are a wonderful present to those readers who admire Japanese culture and poetry in particular, where human relations are measured by spiritual closeness while physical distance vanishes completely.
