Jarji Pkhoveli, the poet who compiled the present collection, says in his introduction: "Shota Chantladze was seen as a loner, a knight standing aloof, a mysterious individual, the impression triggered by his life". However, instead of solitude and alienation, his poetry emanates love for his homeland, pain and joy for his people. This explains why the poet who was relatively unknown in his lifetime is gaining popularity nowadays.
