29 March 1928 – 6 December 1999. 

In 1948 he graduated from the History Department of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi University. In 1955-1960 he was the editor-in-chief of the screenplay department and in 1964-1968 the chief editor of the stage editorial section of the Georgian Film Studio. He was the director of Rustaveli Theatre (1973-1980), chief editor of the State Film Committee (1968-1988), artistic director of Marjanishvili Theatre (1988-1989), president of the Rustaveli Society (1989-1991). In 1989-1991 he was the member of the National Committee of the Supreme Soviet Council. In 1991-1996 he was the lecturer in Kutaisi University.

In 1995 he was elected into Gelati Academy of Sciences.
