Among Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets, Sonnet 66 is the most widely known in Georgia, probably due to the fact that it is recited in the film Repentance. However, it is highly possible that the sonnet strikes a chord in almost any age.
In 1998-99 the writer Otar Chkheidze, the editor of the Gori literary magazine Kldekari, initiated an edition of all old translation of the sonnet. Enriched with several more recent ones, the present publication includes translations by: Shalva Dadiani, Givi Gachechiladze, Revaz Tabukashvili, Kote Kubaneishvili, Inesa Merabishvili, Genadi Margvelashvili, Maia Jijeishvili, Lela Samniashvili, Medea Zaalishvili, Alexandre Elerdashvili and Ani Kopaliani.
