It is hard to overestimate Leri Alimonaki’s contribution to the revival of Terenti Graneli’s name in the 1960s when the totalitarian regime suppressed any humanitarian free thought. Under the Soviet censorship, hard as it was, Leri Alimonaki succeeded in tracking much of the literary legacy of the outstanding poet, securing his place among the Georgian classics.

His novel The Sunday Masses was the result of his tireless efforts to bring to life Terenti Graneli’s life and poetry.
