Born 1960.

Writing in Georgian and Russian, he is the author of two novels and several short stories. One of them, Sex for Fridge, was published by Dalkey Archive Press in the Best European Fiction 2011. His stories have been listed among the Best 15 Short Stories of the Year.

The author of eight prose collections, he received the 2010 literary prize Gala for the Book of the Year for his collection of short stories A Child’s Bite of Persimmon in October.
